» Irene Taylor - Real vs. Fake

Hi Debbie,

I voted in your poll on the side of using a "non-real" tree in the classroom. I used to put up a small tree in my classroom - sans lights as that was a "no-no" in our school system. We made decorations for it in class, and strung popcorn or those styrofoam peanuts.

At home we have a live tree which we cut each year. We have no snow either this year - and it has been very warm, so the usual snowy event is a bit different. Last year we walked in knee-high snow to find the right tree.

I agree that getting the tree and decorating it are a big part of the Christmas holiday, and I do hate to see it become such a quick and easy "fix"! There's something about the winter chill and getting stuck with pine needles that shouldn't be replaced...

Merry Christmas!
Irene

Absolutely, it is a great adventure picking the right tree and the awe of being able to cut it down. My girlfriend and I still enjoy the experience with our boys.

Merry Christmas
