Washing Your Hands
Teacher mini lesson on washing your hands. The lesson will model how, why, and when students should wash their hands.
I am still shocked when I come out of public bathrooms and patrons do not take the time to wash their hands. At a very young age, I was told the importance of washing my hands to stop germs from spreading. However, not everyone is taught the same thing. Some people have no idea it is beneficial to wash their hands after going to the bathroom or petting an animal, some actually think we are a little obsessed with our hand washing.
As a Substitute teacher, I would make my students wash their hands before snack, lunch, and after outdoor play. As students are washing their hands, the other students could do minor things such as; write in their agendas, start some work before a lesson, have them try to answer a question on the board and much more.
I find it is very important for kids to wash their hands regularly and for it to become a habit. Hand washing is a habit that will benefit them today and tomorrow.
