Student Teacher's must complete a teaching practicum before they graduate from Teachers College. It is important for student teacher's to have guidance from an experienced and knowledgeable teacher if they are to succeed in the profession. Associate Teacher is the term used for the teacher who is willing to open their classroom to a student teacher and to teach them the the ins and outs of being a classroom teacher.

The role of an Associate Teacher is difficult because you are responsible to the students in the classroom and the student teaching. Often you receive little if any money for your effort and time and are given no extra spares to assist with your increased workload.

Is it worth the effort and time? You Decide
