Mathematical problem solving strategies to be incorporated by all students, from primary to high school.

Math is an exciting class for me to teach. Students must discuss with each other the different ways of solving the problem and to work as a team in finding the answer. The math class that has students sitting at their desk working alone answering one question after the other is frustrating to observe. Math is a time of exploration, it is important for students to use concrete materials or pictures to illustrate the problem and to explore different strategies for finding a solution.

As a young student I enjoyed math class but I became frustrated with problems because I was able to do basic and complicated calculations but I was unsuccessful in dissecting a math problem. I was unsure of the steps. Teach students mathematical vocabulary and strategies for dissecting a math problem. Math class should be intriguing not boring.
