Halloween aids teachers in teaching curriculum to the class.

Halloween is celebrated in many schools across North America. Children get excited a few weeks before the big event of dressing up to receive free candy. Often it is hard to bring the excitement of Halloween to a quiet roar to teach curriculum. Instead of fighting with the fun of Halloween, bring Halloween into the classroom to teach a few lessons.

A lesson for health class is safety on Halloween night. Children need a reminder of appropriate behaviour on Halloween and what is acceptable and not acceptable. As well, to reenact certain scenarios to familiarize them with the different situations.

As well, students can create their own Halloween stories and songs. Students have great imaginations and being able to write a story or song will have them engaged as they reinforce their spelling, grammar, and creative writing skills. The holiday of Halloween does not need to stop students from learning curriculum, teachers need to bring the holidays to the curriculum.
