Personalized Holiday Gifts For Teachers

Holiday gift ideas to show your appreciation to your child's teacher. Forget the dollar store, rather have your child create a gift that will give all year.

Stay away from giving chocolate, scented candles, bath oils, and holiday knick knacks for your child’s teacher. Personalize their gift or give a gift that keeps on giving for years to come.

Teacher Caricature: Scan a picture of your child’s teacher and print it in black and white. Have your child outline the face with black marker, emphasizing certain features. As well, the child will embellish the clothing. After the drawing is complete, have your child trace the picture. The child will not trace anything that was not outlined with the black marker. After, the child may watercolor the picture or leaves it as a black and white sketch. The teacher caricature can be framed or laminated with your child’s name and year at the bottom of the page on the caricature.

Tree Ornament: Many people celebrate the holiday season, give a unique tree ornament. The best are the ornaments that allow your child’s photo and voice to be recorded on the tree ornament. The teacher may not place it on her home tree but she/he will surely bring it out every holiday season. As well, if the child’s knows of a special interest of the teacher they can give a hallmark specialty ornament.

Artistic Teacher Tote: Purchase a blank canvas tote and fabric paint or markers from your local craft store. Have your child decorate the tote and be sure to place their name and the date somewhere on the tote. This is a gift that keeps giving because teachers have much to carry and not enough bags for them.

Bookmark: Cut card stock to the desired length and width for the bookmark. Your child will decorate or write a short poem. The poem can be handwritten or printed from the computer to save space. After it is completed, laminate the bookmark and with a paper hole puncher, punch a hole at the top of the bookmark. Insert some fancy string through the hole. Take inspiration from bookmarks found at your local card stores.

Teacher Sports Card: Create a teacher card similar to a sports card for your child’s teacher. The card will have stats on the teacher and their career. The card is laminated. It is a unique and unexpected card.

Day Timer: Purchase a day timer for the New Year. Teachers always need a good day timer to plan their days.

Movie Pack: Create a movie basket for your child’s teacher. Include your child’s teacher favorite movie or a gift card to the local video store. As well, include popcorn, pop, and a few treats. This is a gift a teacher will appreciate especially after a difficult day.

Creative Storage Units: Teachers never have enough storage. A storage unit with files is an excellent choice as they keep records of all their students. Look in your child’s classroom to get an idea of the size of the storage unit needed.

Winter Warmth: Purchase a scarf, mitten, and a hat for the winter. The winter package is a must for all teachers as they must do yard duty daily and they are in need for warmth. This is only a good gift idea in the colder regions.
