Ideas for teachers to store their stuff effortlessly.

Paper, books, pens, pencils, and other miscellaneous items fill the classroom. Each year, the teacher must pack up her school supplies to store for the summer to allow the custodians to do a thorough cleaning of the classroom. Too often, the few days of school are hectic and teachers are waiting to relax, not store their classroom things.

Organize your stuff during the year to make clean up of the classroom effortlessly with just a few snaps of the lid.

Magazine Boxes

Magazine boxes are made from paper, plastic, leather or metal. Paper magazine holders are the least expensive but they will only last a few years of classroom wear and tear and they cannot be cleaned. The other materials will allow the boxes to last several years but they are more expensive than the standard cardboard boxes.

These boxes are great for storing emergency protocol, school agendas, weekly lesson plans with handouts, magazines, newspaper clippings, artwork, and much more. Magazine boxes require space as they do not stack well, but a few on the teacher’s desk will keep paper organized.

Tip: Glue magazine boxes on top of each other to create more space on the shelves.

Storage Case

Storage Cases are plastic or vinyl bags with a zipper. Storage cases are priced based on the material quality of the bag. Thin plastic will be less expensive than leather storage cases. As well, the cases come in a variety of sizes and shapes.

Cases are great for storing posters and awkward sized artwork or models for the classroom. In addition, you can store all information in a storage case for one unit. Include, the lesson plans, visual aids, and any other material required for the unit.

Stackable Boxes

Stackable boxes are a necessity of any classroom. Teachers gather a multitude of stuff to teach lessons and to educate and inspire their students. A traditional box of plastic or corrugated cardboard will store teacher books, curriculum literature and necessities of the classroom such as pens and paper. Clear plastic is the ideal stackable box for easy viewing and accessibility.

File Boxes

Choose from mobile plastic or corrugated file boxes to store student files. Corrugated boxes are less expensive but may weaken due to environmental conditions. Plastic are more durable and the files will be better protected.

File boxes are an excellent tool to store students work and progress reports. As well, boxes are good for storing teacher notes, lesson plans, school literature and much more. File boxes keep all information organized and categorized.

Expanding Files

Expanding files are an asset to use for information that does not require a great deal of space. Use expanding files to bring home assignments and tests. Have students place their assignment or test in the appropriate place. This saves time, as the teacher does not have to alphabetize to file in their student file or to record their marks.

Clear containers

Choose clear containers for your storing needs. A simple look will identify the belongings in each storage box. Often items will be forgotten if they cannot be seen even if they are labeled.

Hanging File Cart

A file cart is a tool that allows the more current files to be accessible on a daily basis. The cart can be moved from classroom to lunch room and it allows the teacher to have access to the students work. The hanging file cart is usually quick to assembly and there is less bending and lifting as it is usually at desk height.
